Seven Card Stud Poker

The object of the game is to win the betting pool or "pot" with the highest ranking five-card poker hand attainable from the player’s seven cards.

  • Seven Card Stud is played with a standard 52 card deck. Traditional poker hand rankings apply. The game employs a House Dealer and can be played with up to 8 players.
  • All Stud games at the Oaks are played as limit games, therefore all bets or raises on any given round of betting are for a specified amount.
  • The game commences with each player receiving three uninterrupted cards dealt one at a time, in turn. The first two cards are dealt face down and the third card dealt face up. After all the players have received their initial three cards the first round of betting takes place.
  • A second face up card is delivered to competing players and a second round of betting occurs. Players have the option of continuing play after any betting round by matching any wager that has been made, or discarding their hand and dropping out of contention for the current round. This decision should be based on the player’s perception of the potential strength or weakness of the cards they are holding.
  • This pattern of play continues with competing players receiving a third face up card followed by a round of betting, then a fourth face up followed by a round of betting.
  • The last card delivered is the seventh card and this card is delivered face down with a final round of betting.
  • After the final betting round is completed, all remaining players show down their cards and the best five-card poker hand is awarded the pot.
